More information about RF Microneedling

What is RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling (also called collagen induction therapy), is an aesthetic procedure that delivers incredible anti-aging benefits for patients of all ages. Patients frustrated with seeing early signs of aging can experience dramatic results with this minimally-invasive, non-surgical treatment performed in-office.

The RF (radiofrequency) cosmetic treatment uses tiny needles that create wounds in the skin and deliver RF waves that address skin concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, sagging skin, acne, scarring, and more by triggering the body’s natural production of collagen, elastin, and capillaries.  RF Microneedling encourages skin regeneration and rejuvenation of the facial skin.

RF Microneedling treatments use controlled skin injury to promote the growth of new, healthy skin. The procedure is effective for the treatment of a variety of skin issues related to aging and is an excellent alternative to surgical treatments, chemical peels, and comparably invasive dermabrasion treatment.

Where can RF Microneedling target?

As we age, skin can become thin and loose.  RF Microneedling addresses a variety of common skin concerns. RF Microneedling is the solution to visible signs of aging. The minimally-invasive, effective procedure allows the skin of the treated area to grow back stronger and thicker.

Microneedling targets:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks and cellulite
  • Scarring from acne or surgeries
  • Enlarged pores
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Hyperhidrosis
  • Loose or sagging skin

PRP treatments add blood platelets taken from the patient's arm to the injection site, further enhancing the effects of the microneedling procedure. Ask your dermatologist about adding PRP (platelet-rich plasma) to RF Microneedling treatments to enhance the results and achieve glowing, healthy-looking skin.

Who is an ideal candidate for RF Microneedling?

RF Microneedling is an excellent alternative to invasive, surgical procedures. The treatment is available to patients to treat a wide variety of common skin concerns. Ideal candidates for RF Microneedling are patients who are in good health and are experiencing visible signs of aging.

Patients that experience the following conditions or medications should avoid RF Microneedling:

  • Patients taking Accutane for acne
  • Cold sore breakouts
  • Skin infections / disease
  • Patients who are pregnant
  • Patients currently receiving chemotherapy

What to expect during RF Microneedling procedure

The RF Microneedling procedure is performed in-office by a member of the Skincredible Dermatology team. The minimally invasive procedure is fast, safe, and very effective, resulting in little to no downtime!

Here’s what you can expect during your appointment:

Before the procedure, a member of the Skincredible Dermatology team will clean the skin being treated with alcohol to prevent infection. A topical anesthetic is applied to the skin to increase patient comfort during the procedure. During the procedure, the microneedling device makes tiny wounds in the skin, simultaneously releasing RF energy into the wounds.

The entire RF Microneedling procedure takes between ten and twenty minutes depending on the patient’s goals and the area being treated. After the treatment, a growth solution is applied to the skin to help promote healthy growth of new cell regeneration. Finally a soothing solution is applied to reduce any inflammation in the skin caused by the procedure.

How long do the results of RF Microneedling last?

After the initial RF Microneedling procedure appointment, patients should maintain realistic expectations of possible results. Typically, RF Microneedling addresses common skin concerns related to early signs of aging. The results are long-lasting and patients will typically return for a follow-up procedure or treatment within six months to a year.

The length of the results of RF Microneedling treatments depend on the patient’s individual skin and the area that has been treated. Patients can help maintain skin rejuvenating results by staying out of direct sun and wearing a strong SPF sunscreen.

RF Microneedling treatment results can be further enhanced when combined with other minimally-invasive aesthetic treatments offered at Skincredible Dermatology.

Is there any preparation, aftercare, downtime, or side effects associated with RF Microneedling?

Before visiting Skincredible Dermatology for RF Microneedling treatments, patients should come in for an initial consultation appointment to discuss skincare goals and determine the best technique to achieve those goals. The team will go over any preparation required before the treatment.

There is little to no downtime associated with RF Microneedling treatments.  After an in-office RF Microneedling treatment procedure, patients can usually return to their regular daily activities!
